Domain Name (DNS) and IP Address Requests
Some devices on the network, like printers or servers, need a permanently-assigned IP address in order to function properly. And some applications require a “friendly” name on the network in order to make them easy for people to find and use.
In support of these needs, ITS provides the following services:
Fixed IP address assignments via DHCP reservation.
Fixed IP address assignments via static IP and DNS record configuration.
Custom subdomains for websites and applications (e.g. https://service_name.wwu.edu) via CNAME record.
New subnets and DNS zones for departments or functions.
Instructions
To request DNS, DHCP, or other IP Address services:
Submit a ticket to the Help Desk, or submit the “DNS or DHCP Requests” form.
Provide a summary of your request, and a detailed description of the service you are requesting and its purpose.
If you are requesting a fixed IP assignment via DHCP reservation, please provide the MAC address of the device needing the reservation.
If your request involves a vendor or 3rd-party, please provide technical contact information.
Requests for *.wwu.edu subdomains will be referred to WebTech, to ensure the requested name does not violate branding guidelines or conflict with other university websites or services.
