Highlights
Routing changes for Residence Hall traffic were implemented on 2/15 to address bandwidth constraints on campus.
Shannon Point’s network upgrades and internet service provider change are both in progress.
Additional network changes that were scheduled to happen during the cluster outages are being queued and rescheduled now that we have achieved cluster stability.
Several emergency changes were made to the HCI cluster in response to the stability issues of the last two weeks. Some additional changes will be implemented in the coming days, including enabling more CPU cores in the cluster.
ITS is working with University Communications and Print and Copy Services to investigate publishing the important dates on the university’s paper calendar via OutlookBanner will be down for critical updates during business hours on 3/28 and 3/29 (the Thursday and Friday of Spring Break).
Shannon Point network upgrades are complete, and their internet service has been switched to Anacortes Municipal Fiber.
Archive Building is the next site scheduled for building network upgrades, on 3/26.
ATUS is currently phasing out TLS 1.1 support on Windows PCs. TLS 1.1 is a very old, insecure protocol, and eliminating it should have no impact as the next version up (TLS 1.2) has been available since 2008.
EIS is coordinating with Campus Services occupants to find a time to reboot their building switch to apply configuration changes.
During next week’s Patch Tuesday evening maintenance window, EIS will update and reboot the internal mail relay server.
New VPN Concentrators have been configured, with a cutover tentatively scheduled for the second week of Spring Term.
ITS is circling July 1 as an implementation date for providing an Outlook Calendar version of the univeristy’s paper calendars.
EIS network team is working on scheduling a test of firewall failover for campus internet traffic.
