Highlights

1. Banner will be down for critical updates during business hours on 3/28 and 3/29 (the Thursday and Friday of Spring Break).

2. Shannon Point network upgrades are complete, and their internet service has been switched to Anacortes Municipal Fiber.

3. Archive Building is the next site scheduled for building network upgrades, on 3/26.

4. ATUS is currently phasing out TLS 1.1 support on Windows PCs. TLS 1.1 is a very old, insecure protocol, and eliminating it should have no impact as the next version up (TLS 1.2) has been available since 2008.

5. EIS is coordinating with Campus Services occupants to find a time to reboot their building switch to apply configuration changes.

6. During next week’s Patch Tuesday evening maintenance window, EIS will update and reboot the internal mail relay server.

7. New VPN Concentrators have been configured, with a cutover tentatively scheduled for the second week of Spring TermArchive Building network upgrade is complete.

8. Several network maintenance tasks have been queued up for early April, including:

   1. Enable firewall Quality-of-Service monitoring and re-enable firewall logging to Splunk on 4/8.

   2. Patch firewalls on 4/9.

   3. Enable dynamic firewall rules for M365 on 4/11.

   4. Test encryption of firewall log traffic on 4/15.

   5. Cut over to new VPN appliances on 4/16.

9. ITS is circling July 1 as an implementation date for providing an Outlook Calendar version of the univeristy’s university’s paper calendars.EIS network team is working on scheduling a test of firewall failover for campus internet traffic.
