Purpose
This document provides an overview of the MaxQDA software management process, including licensing, usage, and compliance with WWU policies.

Faculty and staff using MaxQDA for academic or research purposes.

Release Date: Ongoing (license subscription-based)
End-of-Life Date: Annually reviewed and updated based on license renewal.
Purpose
MaxQDA is used for mixed methods and advanced qualitative data analysis, supporting research projects and grant-funded initiatives.

Licensing
License Type: Academic annual subscription.
Number of Licenses: Two (2).
Usage Details
Who is using it? Xi Wang and Chelsea Cross.
What device is it being used on? Personal laptops.
How long will they be using it? One year.
Licenses must be deactivated on personal devices if the users no longer require them.
All data processed using MaxQDA must be stored securely in WWU’s Office 365 environment.
Deprovisioning
Steps:
Ensure deactivation of the license on the user’s device before transferring it.
Notify Nancy Larson and Software Services of any changes.
Document the reassignment for compliance and tracking purposes.
Installation
Devices: Currently on personal laptops of Xi Wang and Chelsea Cross.
Responsible Parties:
Purchase and initial setup coordinated by Nic Covell.
Compliance monitored by Scott Gallagher and Nancy Larson.
Installation Notes:
Installed by the users.
Patching
Frequency: Regular updates as released by MaxQDA.
Process:
Check for updates periodically.
Apply updates outside of peak working hours to minimize disruption.
Confirm functionality post-update and inform users of changes.
