Highlights

  1. University Police Dispatch phone services have been migrated to the WhatComm dispatcher phone system.

  2. Comm Facility network upgrades are complete. Network upgrades have started in Morse Hall (Chemistry).

  3. MATLAB upgrades roll out to computer labs tomorrow morning.

  4. ~225 Windows 11-eligible “shared” computers (e.g. labs, classrooms) will be upgraded to Windows 11 on 9/13.

  5. The WA K20 network will be unavailable overnight 9/14-15. The campus will stay connected via its second internet connection.

  6. Software upgrades for several core network devices will occur in the month of September, including a significant campus-wide network outage the morning of Sunday, September 17thNew network firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems are in place and working for the campus.

  7. MatLab will be upgraded 9/19 at 2:00am.

  8. Internet router software upgrades will roll out at 6:00am on 9/19 and 9/21. No impact to users or systems anticipated.

  9. Network authentication and policy servers will be patched on 9/20 at 6:00am. No impact to users or systems anticipated.

  10. Two security improvements will be rolling out to SharePoint: “Block Downloading of Malicious Files” on 9/20, and “Disable Custom Scripts” on 10/04 (pending further discovery).

  11. The new Education Abroad application, Via, will go live on 9/22.

  12. The Banner test databases (PPRD and WISP) will migrate to a new server on HCI beginning on 9/22. Banner test environments will be unavailable during the migration.

  13. The production Banner database will be migrated to HCI on the weekend of 10/20. A Banner outage announcement for that period will go out in advance.

  14. The wireless network client certificate will be updated in December. This will move our annual renewal cycle from Summer to Winter, which will reduce the impact on students and faculty who leave in the summer and are forced to update their clients at the start of Fall term.

  15. The legacy static website service known as Campus Web will be decommissioned on or after 12/31/23. ATUS, WebTech, and distributed IT will work with site owners to migrate any sites on Campus Web that need to stay online.
