Highlights

  1. Nearly all Banner production servers scheduled for migration to HCI have been migrated. The remaining migrations will conclude next Tuesday night, 7/18. New server builds and deployments are still in progress.

  2. Network upgrades in Buchanan Towers and Edens Hall are complete. Network upgrades in Mathes Hall have begun.

  3. The production Microsoft SQL Server database server will be offline beginning at 9:00am on Wednesday, 7/19 for extended maintenance as part of the HCI migration effort.

  4. There will be outages of the K20 network on 7/18 and 7/20. Neither outage will affect internet access on campus, however the 7/20 outage will cause an outage the connection between University Police and the state patrol network (due to fiber maintenance on a utility pole near campus).

  5. On September 6th at 7am, an upgrade will begin on the systems used to authenticate VPN and Wireless network users. These servers will be upgraded one-at-a-time, so that the likelihood of an outage is minimal.

  6. All users with Quarantined email will now receive a weekly automated notification of their quarantined messages. The first round of notifications was missing some WWU-custom language, but that issue has been corrected for future notifications.

  7. Planning continues for transition of University Police Dispatch phone systems to the County’s Intrado system in August.

  8. The legacy static website service known as Campus Web will be decommissioned on or after 12/31/23. ATUS, WebTech, and distributed IT will work with site owners to migrate any sites on Campus Web that need to stay online.

  9. See the PMO web page at https://eas.wwu.edu for updates on current enterprise IT projects.
