IWS Servers

Overview

The Diatom server supports the Institute for Watershed Studies (IWS) by hosting data for research and operations. The IWS focuses on freshwater system research, offering resources for students and faculty, collaborating with various organizations on regional water quality issues. Robin Matthews, emeritus director of IWS, and her husband, Geoff Matthews, previously maintained the archival resources, but the website is now administered by Angela Strecker.

Troubleshooting

Problem:

Insufficient permissions on the json and images directories may cause web applications to fail when attempting to read or write data.

Solution Steps:

  1. Right-click the "json" directory and select Properties.

  2. Navigate to the Security tab.

  3. Click the Advanced button.

  4. Double-click the "Allow" rule for the principal "www (Unix group\www)".

  5. Change the "Applies to" value from "This folder only" to "This folder, subfolders, and files", then click OK.

  6. Check the box for "Replace all child object permissions", then click OK.

  7. Click OK once more to close the "json Properties" window.

Repeat these steps for the "images" directory.
