Software Management
Licensing
No licensing is required; software is legacy and operates with no vendor support.
Deprovisioning
Upon hardware retirement or migration to a new system, ensure the virtual machine (VM) and configuration files are securely archived. Remove legacy configurations if the system will no longer be used.
Installation
The software is running on a virtual machine (VMWARE Workstation Pro 15) due to its incompatibility with modern operating systems. The virtual machine is located at:
C:\\VirtualMachines\\VirtualMachines\\Wub7fs3100
WinFlow Instances: There are two configured instances of WinFlow, each connected to:
COM Port 3
COM Port 4
These ports are managed via serial-to-USB cables.
Configuration Steps:
Enable the USB COM ports upon launching the virtual machine.
Setup the configuration files for each device instance.
Verify proper connectivity through COM Ports 3 and 4 before initiating operations.
Patching
Patching is not applicable as the software is no longer supported. Maintain the virtual machine environment to ensure stable operation.
This documentation serves as a guide for maintaining and it’s general use of the WinFlow software within the College of the Environment. Ensure all configurations and VM settings are handled carefully to avoid disruptions in operations.
