    Purpose

    This document provides detailed information about the Leica Application Suite X software, its setup, associated hardware, and management procedures within the College of the Environment.

    Audience

    CENV IT staff, laboratory personnel, and administrators managing LAS X software and Leica Hardware.

    • Purpose: This software is used for the configuration and use of Leica Microscopes and Cameras, it can assist in both the gathering and analysis of microscopic images and data.

    Software management

    This section provides both instructions and information about how we manage this software in the College of the Environment.

    Licensing

    This software requires no licensing of any kind as it is built to be operated in conjunction with Leica Hardware and has little use outside of that purpose.

    Installation

    1. Download the Zip Archive

    2. Extract and Execute Setup.exe, this will ask for local admin permission

    3. Click Next and Agree to the EULA

    4. If checked, Uncheck the box next to Install/update camera drivers only, as you are trying to install the software itself

    5. If required by the user, check the boxes next to Steel Expert and Cleanliness Expert, otherwise leave unchecked

    6. Leave all optional features checked to install them

    7. If the microscope itself will be connected to the device, leave the boxes Microscope Firmware and Update Microscope component settings (only for DM18!) checked, otherwise uncheck the boxes.

    8. Wait for the installation to complete, if prompted to allow installation of drivers click install

    9. When prompted to select camera drivers, use the model number to select the appropriate drivers, alternatively install all the drivers the correct one will be used by the software when connected to a supported camera.

    10. When prompted Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now, or else don’t and restart the computer at a better time.
