Known Issues

Problem

In ENVI 5.7 (running on Windows 11), the Inquire Cursor tool does not display Data values, showing only map information. The issue occurs inconsistently across machines, impacting lab exercises and teaching activities.

Solution

  1. Workaround (Temporary Fix):

    • Launch the IDL Development Environment (IDLDE) included with ENVI.

    • Navigate to:
      Window -> Preferences -> IDL -> Graphics Settings.

    • Set Rendering Method to Software and save the settings.

    • From the IDL prompt, launch ENVI with the following command:
      IDL> e=envi().

    • Verify the Cursor tool now displays Data values correctly.
