Microsoft Teams List view makes it easier to keep track of team activity

The default view in Microsoft Teams shows all of your teams in a grid:

Teams that have new activity are listed in bold, but if you are on a lot of teams you may not need to keep up with all new activity. List view is more helpful, because it lets you quickly scan the channels within your teams to see which channels have new activity (the bold ones).

Switch to List View

  1. Access Teams settings by clicking the Gear icon in the upper right corner and then click Switch view

  2. Under the Layout section, select the List view and click the 'X' in the upper right corner to close the window.

Now you will see your teams in a list. You can expand teams to show channels. The channels in bold have new messages.

Are you on too many teams? You can hide (or un-hide) teams and/or channels that you do not need to track, but may want to browse at your leisure. Click the ellipsis next to a Team name to hide that team. You can still get to it by scrolling to the bottom of your list and expanding “Hidden Teams.” To move it back to your main list just click the ellipsis again and then click “Show.”
Hide or show a channel by clicking the ellipsis next to the channel name. Note that you cannot hide the “General” channel.
