Creating Jira Reports
This article will use the example of Creating a Jira report to find the amount of times tickets with specific component have been created within a time frame.
Note: While Jira users may view reports, only Jira Project admins may edit and create new reports.
From the Jira Project’s home page click Reports within the Knowledge section.
Review the list of reports to ensure that the information you are looking for does not already have a report already
Scroll down to the bottom of the list to access the New report option.
Give the report a recognizable name then click Add series
Series are the metric results of queries that are performed on the tickets or other Jira data to produce a report.
For a report on resolved tickets using a specific component select Resolved as the series
Add a label for the query we want for our metric.
Select a color to allow it to be distinguishable from other data points.
In the filer by section select the query you would like to filter tickets by. In the example we are filtering tickets by a specific component. Click Add to add the series then Create to create the initial report.
Once the report is created the time filter controls will be available. In the report under Show you’ll be able to specify the time period for a report’s data to be displayed. There is not the ability to set this to default value.
Adding more points of data use the same Add series button. This can be accessed again by clicking the Three dots (…) menu in the top right of the report.
