Bluebeam Optimization
This article addresses performance related issues with Bluebeam 2018. Some issues are:
Slow document rendering and refreshing when zooming and navigating.
Opening documents takes longer than usual.
Program becomes unresponsive.
Interface is slow to respond to input.
Solutions
Change the Rendering Mode in Revu
The Wait for completion rendering mode disables partial redrawing of the display. Instead, the screen will not update until the full page is ready to display.
In Revu, click Revu > Preferences or press Ctrl+K.
Click Advanced on the left. Make sure you are in the 2D Rendering tab.
Select Wait for completion in the Rendering Mode dropdown menu and click OK.
How this helps
Reduces the total amount of time to redraw the PDF page by avoiding temporary redraws.
Reduces time to redraw the PDF page on 4K and high-resolution displays.
Change the Rendering Engine in Revu
Revu 2018 includes both a standard GDI rendering engine (on by default), as well as a new SKIA rendering engine. Each has its own strengths, so switching to the other engine may resolve your performance issue.
In Revu, click Revu > Preferences , or press Ctrl+K.
Click Advanced on the left. Make sure you are in the 2D Rendering tab.
Select Advanced (Skia) in the Rendering Engine dropdown menu and click OK.
How this helps
The SKIA engine may be better suited to the file you are working with.
This setting should be toggled at will to see if it makes a difference.
Change the power settings in Windows 10
Aggressive power saving settings sacrifice display performance in order to reduce power consumption and extend battery life. They affect both laptops and desktops.
Click Start, type power settings and select Power & sleep settings.
Click Additional power settings, which will open the Power Options in the Control Panel.
Click on Show additional plans to display the hidden plans.
Select the High performance or Maximum performance setting.
How this helps
Improves display performance by increasing the resources Windows provides to the GPU.
Your computer may require administrative rights to change power settings. If you are not an administrator, please contact your IT Support person for assistance.
