Connecting Devices to the Wireless Network Without a Username and Password

ITS uses a secure encryption technology to allow Western students, faculty, and staff to connect to the wireless network on campus with their Universal Account. But some consumer devices, like Smart TVs, wireless printers, streaming devices, and other technologies, do not support this enterprise method of connecting to wireless. In order to connect these devices to the wireless network, you will need to work with ATUS or your departmental IT support to register your device for connectivity.

Instructions

To request to register a Smart TV, wireless printer, or other wireless device for use on the campus wireless network, submit a ticket to the ATUS Help Desk or your local IT support with the following information:

  1. A description of the device you wish to connect.

  2. The department who owns the device.

  3. The primary technical contact for supporting the device.

  4. A brief description of the device’s connectivity needs (e.g. “Internet only”, “computers in my office only”, “other wireless devices in my building only”, etc.).

Registered devices must be renewed annually or they will lose their access to the network. The technical contact for the device will receive a notification email when renewal is due.
